The old man falls asleep and dreams that his boy has enlisted, gone out to the Philippines, and there been shot after a court-martial for striking a superior officer. In the meantime, the boy has met his old school companions, and they proceed to celebrate their release from the halls of learning. Suddenly awakening from his terrible dream, the old man rushes frantically to a nearby recruiting office in vain search of his boy whom he had so cruelly used. He comes back unsuccessful and heartbroken. The boy finally comes home feeling very happy only to find a couple of very miserable parents. They are overjoyed at his safe return.

He captures the bank robbers, discovering to his surprise that Nell's brother Jack is one of the criminals. His love for Nell prompts him to permit Jack's escape, while he leaves the country, thus making himself the scapegoat. Thus he demonstrates his loyalty as a lover.
- Alone and in poverty after her father died, she came to live with her rich relatives and was coldly treated. They made a servant of her, which had one good result: the old butler could risk being kind to her. A wealthy young man and a foreign fortune-hunter were suitors for her rich cousin's hand. The count proposed an elopement, and after a petulant tiff with Jack the girl consented to meet him under the trees on the night of the bridge party. The little scapegoat saw the scene between them, urged her cousin not to be foolish, and took her place, just in time to avert the wrath of her mother, whom Jack brought to the spot. The ruse worked temporarily, but Jack's suspicions lingered, and the butler, stepping in when he heard the little scapegoat blamed, told what he, too had seen. Both he and the scapegoat were discharged, and promptly re-engaged by Jack. At his home they found a far different atmosphere, and in time Jack took courage to ask the big question of the girl he had come to love under such odd circumstances.
- John Fordyce and Alwyn Jasper are the two bank clerks who cannot resist the temptation of using their employer's funds in an effort to enrich themselves. Both young men are in love with Beauty Van Sant. John meets with favor. When by chance Jasper detects the defalcations of John, he works on the latter's sense of honor and pride so that the latter deems himself unworthy of the affections of the girl. Jasper makes good the shortage by further dishonest methods. John, on the other hand, confides to Beauty the crime he has committed and the noble spirit of Jasper in appreciation of which he breaks his engagement and allows Jasper to plead and win his cause. Jasper continues his dishonesty, but cleverly weaves a circumstantial case against John, so that when the exposure comes, John, feeling himself under obligations to Jasper, pleads guilty to the charge of forgery, and is sentenced to five years of penal servitude. After four years of hard labor, John is paroled for good behavior. At Jasper's home the death of the only child and his indifference to home ties do not enhance matrimonial bliss. Jasper dies as the result of an accident, but on his death bed makes a confession completely vindicating John. Beauty seeks the prison warden in an effort to make amends to John, but he has already been liberated. Her life's occupation is now to find John, and because of her failure, attaches herself to a rescue mission, where, after patient waiting, her diligence is awarded by discerning in a veritable wreck the man who, because of his love for her had made such inestimable sacrifices. At her home later the two read the confession of Jasper, and both come to a stronger realization of the kindly hand of fate.
- A sinister and mysterious tale full of conspiracies and prejudice The Scapegoat is a short animated film based on one of the greatest criminal cases in Victorian history. Set at the turn of the 20th century it follows George Edalji, a young man whose life is thrown into turmoil after a series of disturbing events lead him to be accused of a ruthless crime. In an attempt to unravel the mystery he finds himself in George appeals to Britain's most famous detective writer Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and as Arthur embarks on a passionate campaign to clear George's name it seems to the rest of the watching world, as though Sherlock Holmes has come to life.
- Virginia Dalmar, success of the theatrical season, is secretly married to Victor Thompson, banker, despite opposition by Ezra Thompson, brother and business associate of Victor. Virginia's scapegoat brother, in a gambling fight, fires at his opponent and believing he has killed his man, appeals to his sister for aid. She meets him in a café and Ezra happens in as she kisses him good-bye. Ezra forces his escort on Virginia and accompanies her home. Dick arrives as Ezra is trying to kiss her, and in a fight, in which Dick is badly wounded, Victor's brother is killed. Dick flees and Virginia is arrested for the: murder. Later Dick returning to confess the crime, meets his gambling house opponent and is fatally injured in a fight. He is dragged to the courtroom, where he makes a dying confession just as the judge is charging the jury to find Virginia guilty.
- Harry Mason, a young New Yorker of good family, tries to borrow money from his brother, Tom. One afternoon Tom collects $5,000 for his father. As it is after banking hours, Mr. Mason puts the money in his house safe. He is overseen by Harry, who breaks into the safe and steals the money. Tom enters the room just as Harry is closing the safe. As Harry exits with the money Mr. Mason enters and finds Tom bending over the open safe. He is accused of the theft and sent from home to his outraged father. Three years later, during which time Tom has met and fallen in love with Nellie Wright, he is elected sheriff of his county. Jack Wright, Nellie's brother, is a cowpuncher. He falls in with bad companions and is persuaded to give up cowpunching and take to the road for a living. Shortly after Tom is elected sheriff, Jack and his companions rob the Logan bank of a large sum of money. On the day of the bank robbery Tom rescues Nellie from a runaway horse. As he brings her home after the rescue he is told of the robbery, and, hurriedly assembling a posse, starts in pursuit of the outlaws. Finally, the outlaws separate and Jack, wounded, plunges into a river in an effort to elude his pursuers. Tom rides into the river and ropes Jack, thereby rescuing him from drowning. While on his way to town with his prisoner, Tom meets Nellie. Nellie is thunderstruck at finding her brother an outlaw. She pleads with her sweetheart for her brother's release. Tom finally turns over to Jack the stolen money, and the key to the handcuffs and his sheriff's star over to Nellie. Then he mounts his horse and rides out of the story.

Gina diffuses the situation with Mr Towner when he is found at the previous location. Smithy meets up with Louise again but they are nearly caught out. Zain finds Garrison shot in the head and he believes it is Larson. Prosser doesn't support Gina when the Burroughs Commander rips into her over the gun incident and suspends Gina on the spot.
